Announcement regarding Mega Arms Monolithic MTS upper receivers:
We have both good news and also tough news to deliver. So to quickly get the bad news out of the way: we are no longer manufacturing, or offering for sale, our MTS Monolithic upper receivers. This includes sets involving the MTS upper in AR-15 and MATEN. If you are a custom MTS client, please contact us (contact area is at the bottom of all pages).
You must be wondering why we are taking this step. No, we did not have any safety or quality issues. You already know that our MTS upper is made to our high expectations and has been the pinnacle of the industry since its inception. We recently became aware that a competitor is about to obtain a patent, and we believe that this competitor will assert its patent against us. We have strong defenses, but we are not a large company that can sustain ongoing litigation expenses. Plus we would rather be working on providing a superior replacement.
The good news is that we are working on a new platform that far exceeds anything currently offered in the industry. It will be exactly what you would expect from Mega Arms. We have no specific time frame on when we will be able to start shipping the new platform, but stay tuned for news on that front.
The MTS upper for AR-15 and MATEN has been a huge success for us at Mega Arms, and we are just as disappointed as you are with this decision and change. We convey our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to you or your customers. We at Mega Arms look forward to our new platform, and believe that it will be a platform that the industry would expect to see from us at Mega Arms!

Man that really sucks I was wondering why sites had been taking down their displays. I was really looking forward to a Tubular Rifle length to match my lower… When are you looking at releasing your new product so I know whether to wait or not.

So current owners that have any MTS uppers will they have any support? Like if I need a replacement Adams Arm piston system.
We are always here to help you out with any of our product regardless of whether we still manufacture it or not. We are still going to have the Adams Arms piston system available for all lengths.
I recently learned of the discontinuation of the MTS monolithic upper. Let me say again … that sucks. I was just about to order one along with a few more of your components. The new platform that you are working on as a replacement, is it going to be a monolithic piece as well? Do you still plan to offer the Adams Arms gas piston system that works in conjuction with the new replacement platform? Can you give me some sort of a time frame on when the new platform might be available to the masses even if it is a wild guess? Thanks
Our redesign is being worked on and we are hoping to have it available after the first of the year. We can’t release any information on it at this time. We will still offer the Adams Arms gas piston systems. If you would like to, we recommend signing up for our newsletter. Thank you.

Guess I’m a month too late. I was just ready to by one of you Monolitic upper for a custom AR build. A buddy of mine here in Vacaville, CA just built one and highly recommended MEGA to me.
As a small engineering business owner myself, I completely understand the litigation expense avoidance. It’s not worth it. My firm just spent $50,000 to full-fill our deductible on a frivolous claim.
Anyhow, I would apprevciate an email back to notify me when your new platform is available. Put me on the list for purchase.

I recently purchased your billet lower (GTR-3H) with the intension on mating it with your monolithic upper (MTS300-V2). I finally scraped enough money together to purchase it. Is there any way I can purchase a monolithic upper?!?! PLEASE!
Unfortunately there are no monolithics on the market that we know of. You might be able to find one second hand on gunbroker.com. The redesign is going to be really cool! Thanks.

Was about to do a custom build with your monolithic NIB 10″ tube upper. So sorry to hear this news. Is your new upper going to be monolithic or was that the patent issue? Also I cant find anyone with an upper quite like yours, except maybe Vltor and LMT and Vltor isnt truly monolithic. Were either of these companies the one that contacted you about patent. And yes I will sign up for the news letter.

We cannot release what our redesign is right now, but it will definitely be worth the wait!
Sigh, this is a damn shame. Another unnecessary casualty of counterproductive U.S. patent law. Stifling innovation one patent at a time! Seems like the arms industry is progressively heading down the same black hole as the tech industry (i.e. Apple vs Samsung).
You folks produce superb products. I’ve been extremely impressed with the quality and craftsmenship of my MATEN receiver set, and the MATEN monolithic upper was next on my list. However, MA never disappoints, and I’m sure whatever the next bit of nastiness you guys are cooking up won’t disappoint!

I have spent months researching and saving money for my first AR build. Fortunately, I was able to purchase a monolithic qual rail without knowing they were being discontinued. TWO DAYS LATER the mono uppers were pulled from the market. I’m excited to complete my build with your billet lower and upper and I look forward to my next build because I’ve already decided to use your components again. Keep up the good work and I look forward to what is coming from Mega Arms!

About a year and a half ago I purchased a Mega Arms MATEN monolithic upper and lower matched set. I have not started the build yet. I have been waiting for the Adams Arms gas piston system. Do you know if Adams Arms or some other company has made a gas piston system for your MATEN? If so could you please let me know where I can get one. I thank you very much for any help you can give me.
I also have a Mega Arms AR-15 matched set monolithic upper. It is a great firearm. The accuracy is outstanding. I really appreciate you fine quality and workmanship and quality machining of all you parts.

I built a custom AR earlier this year using your mono upper and was ready to build a second one! I know it has been said but this really sucks. My friend liked mine so much he copied me. I guess I will be waiting on the new platform.
A big fan of your past design I’m currently building a Mega lower and upper set. As a consumer I would be interested in a upper with a continuous rail with removable sides/ bottom (example: PWS Upper). Or something similar to the LWRC upper would be nice but with a “MEGA” twist. Cant wait to see what’s new.

I referred my friends to the quality of Mega and the staff. One of my friends completed his build using the mono. Im glad atleast one of us got to grab one before it was discontinued. I am looking forward to your new design, best receievers/lowers on the market IMO.
For those of us out there in the piston driven world….if you were to offer a monolithic platform that would accept the Adams Arms piston kit….I would be the first in line to purchase……several!!

I own two of those other rifles and a friend came buy that has one of yours and I just picked it up and fell in love with it, then i shot it and had to have it ( I tried to slip mine in his case ) and went to find a couple of MEGA’s to buy and was very diaapointed to find out that they rilfe I would prefer to have and the one that uses a standard barrrel ( The other one you have to use there barrells ONLY ) was not avaliable. I was Pi$$ed. I am waiting on your new design and I hope it is a mono and uses a standard barrell ( which does not force me to use your barrels ONLY ) and is light and still has a small handguard and shoots good and is solid as a rock and and and and jsut like the one you had to take off of the market. I can buy anything I want and I am a Class 3 FFL and I want two of your rifles as soon as you have them ready to ship. Please Hurry!!!
I just saw your .308 prototype on Gearscout, and let me say absolutely awesome. I really hope that you make the rail available in a 12.5″ AR-15 format.
We do have plans for an extended rifle length.
What’s the general length in inches, and whats the eta?
We are still in the preliminaries of testing the product. It will be long enough to cover rifle length gas. We hope to have it released by shot show 2013.
What will your price range be on the new product?

I read an atricle somewhere I think it was on gear scout that the MKM was a new product by Mega Arms but that it was not going to be the replacement for the monolithic uppers. Is the MKM in fact the replacement for the monolithic? Are you guys going to be offering a redisgned, truly monolithic sereis of uppers?
The MKM is the replacement for the monolithic. With the patent being issued we are unable to manufacture a ture monolithic.
Thats very dissapointing news, myself as well as many others were looking forward to a new monolithic design. Keep up the good work, hopefully legal issues change in the future and you can start manufacturing the monos again, I liked your design much more than LMT’s and being able to use any standard barrel was a HUGE plus.
